AZALEA KARA

Chairman of the Board

I am Açelya KARA, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the 25th Term Sailor Students Association. I am a 4th year student at Yıldız Technical University, Naval Architecture and Marine Mechanical Engineering. I am the third female president of the Sailor Students Association, which has been operating for 25 years, after 15 years. Sailor Students Association is the single largest student non-governmental organization founded and managed by students, which has been bringing together sailor students for a quarter of a century since 1999, providing space for them to discuss and solve their problems, with 3000 active and more than 10000 graduate students. It has been organizing delegations, trainings, various activities in its 5 different commissions, breakfasts, Moda Sea Club Talks, social responsibility activities and workshops every year for 25 years. Our biggest and most popular event is our National Mermaid Congresses, which we traditionally organize every year. Mermaid Congresses, which last for 3 nights and 4 days with 300 students from all over Turkey and the leading companies and names of the sector, bring together the student with the student, and the industry with the student with whom they may work in the future. It is remembered as a maritime festival with panels, workshops, teahouse events and workshops. The Sailor Students Association, which I met during my preparatory years, is one of the greatest chances of my university life. This association, which I have been a part of for 5 years, is also a meeting of friends for me. As the first sailor in my family, I had no idea about the maritime industry. It is the Sailor Students Association that made the biggest contribution to me getting into this sector and learning what maritime is. Here, I got to know my friends with whom I will work in the future, various maritime companies, non-governmental organizations and communities. I can say that I found most of what a sailor student needs in this association. I would like to express my gratitude to all sailor students, graduates and supporting companies who have contributed to the growth of the Sailor Students Association with a quarter of a century of experience.
